Bio: Valerie is from Los Angeles, California, but moves with her mother to Richmond VA her freshman year of college when her mom gets a new job. Growing up in California had not been easy for Valerie. Valerie had to learn from an early age what it meant to keep herself guarded. After her father walked out on them when she was a baby leaving their family in financial turmoil, her mother had to take odd jobs to keep them together during which time she was looked after and raised by her aunt who enrolled her in theater and dance classes after watching her put videos together to pass the time.

After moving to Richmond, Valerie became very interested in writing and found that it helped her cope with her past about being alone. She graduated from J Sargeant Reynolds with a degree in Liberal Arts, and due to her mom's new job, finical aid and her aunt's help she was able to transfer to Longwood University as a junior majoring in English with a minor in theater . Due to some connections from her mom, she met some friends who were on and some transfers interested in the FIERCE Dance Team at Longwood that had urged her to come to summer sessions. She can't wait for fall to start and to leave her past behind.
